Hyperthermia (FIR)
A hyperthermia session induces sweating at high temperatures in
a safe and comfortable environment. Sweating helps to clear the
lymphatic system and blood of waste materials. This helps to take
the pressure off the liver, kidneys, lungs and bowel. During a
15 minute sweat, the skin can eliminate the same amount of heavy
metals, such as aluminium and mercury, as the kidneys can in 24
hours. Pesticides, petrochemicals, drugs and metabolic waste can
also be sweated out.
During a hyperthermia session the blood flow from the internal
organs (heart, brain, liver, spleen, lungs etc.) to the skin can
increase 50% or more. Clearer organs, blood and lymph may contribute
to more movement and communication within the body, a better pH
balance, improved hydration and greater access to nutrients and
oxygen. This can improve the ability of all aspects of the body
to function well.
Hyperthermia creates a safe artificial fever in the body, which
has been shown to increase antibody and white blood cell production
in the same way that a natural fever would. Many pathogenic bacteria
and viruses cannot survive in such temperatures, and cancer cells
have been shown to die at temperatures from about 104-107°F
(40-41.7°C). Hyperthermia is now an FDA approved therapy for
breast cancer in the US.
At the same time, extra enzymes are produced to break down toxins
and foreign particles, substances are produced that induce relaxation
(so the body can focus its energy and resources on healing itself),
and natural painkillers are produced, Many patients have reported
substantial pain reduction using hyperthermia.
Taking a cold shower afterwards is recommended to help prolong
some of these effects.
The Journal of Oncology reports a 1993 study by the Indiana University
Medical Center, where 73 cancer patients had 421 sessions of hyperthermia
between 1987 and 1992. All had previously “failed”
chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. The results were as follows:
45% - lesions completely disappeared and were still absent after
monitoring for 6 months/
48% - lesions reduced in size by 50% or more
7% - no response
Why Far Infrared (FIR)?
80% of the sun’s emissions are on the infrared spectrum,
providing us with heat and promoting life. Infrared heat/light
is also emitted by any object whose temperature is above absolute
zero. Near infrared is a small band of visible light frequencies,
but the majority is far infrared, which is invisible to humans.
FIR saunas use a tiny part of the far infrared spectrum whose
wavelengths are slightly hotter and faster moving than the ones
humans emit.
FIR penetrates approximately 1 ½ inches into the body with
a very uniform effect. A well hydrated body will maximise this
effect, as water will absorb the FIR and emit the same wavelength
throughout the body. At the same time, FIR will increase the motility
of water, so that the body becomes better hydrated. As a result,
more polluting gases and heavy metals are able to be released
from the bodily fluids, and more waste materials and toxins are
able to be released from the cells.
